CONCERT SERIES FOR THIS FALL
While wrapping up their summer event schedule, the Kansas City Power & Light District proudly announced today, plans to bring Latin sounds to the KC Live Stage in a new three-part concert series. The series, named Ritmo Caliente, will feature FREE, live performances by three of the country’s hottest Latin alternative and rock acts.
Check out the schedule:
- Friday, September 24th – Making Movies – an up-and-coming bilingual band from right here in Kansas City. Their first full-length album, In Deo Speramus, which debuted last March, features ten-songs: five recorded in English and five in Spanish. The band performs throughout the Midwest and has played alongside notable acts including Latin Grammy winners Aterciopelados and Minimal, and most recently, the Los Lonely Boys. The Pop Pistols will open the show.
- Friday, October 1st – Monte Negro – is an exciting, up-and-coming bilingual indie rock band based in Los Angeles, with true crossover appeal. Currently, Monte Negro has released one full-length album “Cicatrix.” Monte Negro has played alongside artists such as Gwen Stefani, Incubus, Coldplay as well as major Mexican acts such as Café Tacvba, Molotov and Zoé.
- October 8th – Pastilla. – best-known as one of the pioneering bands of the Los Angeles’ Latin Alternative movement of the 1990s, brings their cross-cultural upbringing and experiences to the Ritmo Caliente series through their unique blend of power pop melodies and rich bilingual lyrical content.
